Yolo County Fire Safe Council is excited to announce our Neighborhood Chipper Pilot Program. The Chipper Program is a defensible space/fuel reduction program for high fire areas in Western Yolo County. The chipping service is offered at no cost to residents living in high areas of Western Yolo County (i.e. Capay Valley, Golden Bear, and West Winters- west of Rd 87D). Piles MUST be stacked according to our guidelines to qualify for chipping.

This program is made possible by Early Action Grant Funding from Yolo County Office of Emergency Services and is intended for folks living in high fire areas in Western Yolo County. Residents living outside of high fire areas in Yolo County are excluded from the Neighborhood Chipper Pilot Program at this time.

Please complete your defensible space work/fuels reduction (and pile prepping) before submitting a request for chipping. Information on best practices for defensible space and wildfire preparedness can be found at www.readyforwildfire.org.

**When doing fuels reduction work, please use hand tools when possible and be very careful with mechanized equipment that may spark.**
