What should dancers wear for a trial lesson: For ages 6 and under the HDA ballet class uniform consists of a pink leotard, pink chiffon skirt, theatrical pink tights and split-sole canvas ballet shoes.  New students who don't already have our uniform can wear whatever ballet / activewear clothes they may already have, with either ballet shoes / bare feet / socks as we don't expect you to outlay on a uniform unless you're certain you will proceed with the enrolment.  When you are ready to enrol the required HDA uniform items (except shoes) are available for purchase at the studio.  Proper ballet shoes need to be sized/purchased from Dance Desire in Ashmore upon enrolment.  Hair must be secured in a bun with a hairnet and pins for all dancers at every lesson please.
What do parents do during lessons: At HDA students go into lessons on their own without parents, with the exception of Tiny Tots/Pre-Primary students who may need mum/dad to help them get settled and feeling confident if it's their first day.  Our reception area is not large enough to accomodate parents to wait on site during lessons so when classes begin, parents are asked to please leave and then come back to collect their child after class.  Staying to observe classes through the windows of our lovely french doors is not permitted for child safety reasons and because we find it adds unnecessary pressure/anxiety for students who are busy learning/practicing new skills.  Directly outside our studio, parents are spoiled for choice with all the lovely cafes and nearby walking paths so we appreciate your cooperation.  We will arrange two official viewing opportunities for parents throughout the year - one is a parent viewing day in the studio at the end of Term 2 (half way through the year) to show parents what the students have achieved and what they are continuing to work on, and the other viewing opportunity is our performance on stage at the end of Term 4 in our annual concert.  Thank you for your assistance to help us create the best possible learning environment for all.
