Dr. Nyle Kardatzke served as Brookfield Academy's Head of School from 1978 to 1992 and taught economics in the Upper School during those years. He later became the Head of School at Wichita Collegiate School in Kansas and at Sycamore School in Indianapolis. Dr. Kardatzke studied economics to better understand the lives of people in Eritrea and Ethiopia where he taught in the Peace Corps as a young man from 1962 to 1964. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from UCLA and he also taught economics at Marquette University from 1974 to 1978. With four self-published books that have grown out of his personal experiences from early childhood to the present, Dr. Kardatzke has four more books in what he calls his “pipeline” for further writing including one about his two years in Ethiopia when John F. Kennedy was President and Haile Selassie was the Emperor of Ethiopia.
Matthew Strong has a BA from Kenyon College with a double major in economics and history, and also a MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He has 24 years of experience in different roles in the investment industry and is a father of two recent BA lifer graduates. For more than 30 years, Mr. Strong has consistently learned about economics, history, human thinking, logic, and logical fallacies.
