‘SUP Medway (Substance Use Prevention) is a community coalition with a mission to prevent Medway youth from using drugs, especially alcohol and vaping.

Help us plan and implement plan prevention campaigns as a coalition team member. Minimum commitment is 2 hours per month which includes attending meetings and trainings and actively advancing campaign messaging in the community. There is opportunity to also participate in project-based work groups for creating new initiatives or continuing communications.

Volunteers are expected to 1) have an interest in community/youth wellbeing, 2) follow our Coalition Group Agreements (link below) and 3) cooperate with Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant requirements such as documenting attendance so your time is counted as a Match. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FNpTTBi9z0RQnEK2BOL-CqAFAMtXj2yxLKQGNNJYhkg/edit?usp=sharing

Getting projects started and sustained takes teamwork. Our work groups change as the work evolves so here are some examples. Select the work groups you would like to participate in or learn more about. After submitting this form, someone will reach out to you and can describe more about the current projects and opportunities to collaborate with other coalition members in work groups.

Drop-In Programming for Medway Youth: Youth need safe, supervised, drug-free space especially on Friday nights. Goal is to create the norm of youth socializing that does not involve underage drinking or other problematic behavior.

Policy Work Group: Understand, educate, and advocate for policy changes to address risk and protective factors related to youth substance use

Communication Work Group: Establish and create sustainability for effective communication channels for the ‘SUP Medway Coalition to build awareness, trust, and information sharing capabilities with Medway community members.

Parent Education: Meeting parents where they are at to learn about youth brain development, drug risks, and parenting tips for drug-free kids.
