As the contest takes place in an area that requires a NerdFaire Badge to gain access, all contestants are required to have a NerdFaire Badge. Badges can be purchased through our website.
Adult Contest (age 13 and over):
Advanced (If you have been in multiple contests or have been doing costumes for awhile):
1st Prize: $300 Visa gift card
2nd Prize: $200 Visa gift card
3rd Prize: $100 Visa gift card
Beginner (If this is your first contest or you are new to cosplay):
1st Prize: $100 Visa gift card
2nd Prize: $75 Visa gift card
3rd Prize: $50 Visa gift card
Nerdling Contest (age 12 and under):
1st Prize: $40 Visa gift card
2nd Prize: $30 Visa gift card
3rd Prize: $20 Visa gift card
Contest Rules:
01. Contestants can only enter in one cosplay category as an individual or a group.
02. No nudity.
03. No profanity. This includes messages on signs or clothing.
04. Performances containing political or religious statements are prohibited.
05. All prop weapons must conform to the Weapons Policy
06. No projectiles. Anything that can be tossed or launched are prohibited.
07. Flash pots, explosives, or similar special effect devices are not allowed.
08. No skits during the judging period.
09. No jumping off the stage
10. Costumes must be self-contained.
11. Large elaborate costumes must be handled by the contestant and/or assistants the contestant brings to help.
Anyone who violates these rule may be disqualified from the competition and may be asked to leave the convention area.
At least 60% of the costume needs to be made, built, or created by you.
This includes: Sewing, Building weaponry/armour, painting, crafting. You can take pre-made clothing items and alter them, (Example: Altering a bodysuit, purchasing pre-made boots but making a corset or cloak. Purchasing a pre-made wig but making an entire armor out of craft foam/foam mats/worbla and/or fabric).
You will be judged on Talent. Are you lively and “On” for the audience?
How much do you ‘resemble’ the character (This has everything to do with if we can figure out who you are trying to be? Example: Showing up in a t-shirt and jeans and saying “I'm Tony Stark” doesn’t qualify)
