As we prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, we have an excellent opportunity for our incoming 6th Graders
regarding Orange Grove ISD Athletics. Although the state does not allow 6th Graders to participate in Junior
High Athletics until our student-athletes enter 7th grade, UIL (our state’s governing athletic agency) does allow
our 6th graders to enter into a Pre-Athletics period. This is a scheduled class during the school day which will
prepare our 6th graders for the discipline, structure and expectations of our district’s athletic program. During
this Pre-Athletics period, your child will be working on strength (age appropriate), agility, conditioning and
skill development. This Pre-Athletics class is run by our coaches and sign-up is required for our incoming 6th
Graders so they may be scheduled properly. Physicals are NOT required for this Pre-Athletics period.
