Dear Hornby Island Artists, Musicians, Amateurs, Studios, Art Shops, Bands, Professionals, Venues, Enthusiasts, Hot Spots!

We've been hunting around for a way to make a simple app to replace our physical studio guide, and we've found something we're ready to stick with: https://map.hornbyarts.com

If you have a cellphone, you can put the app right on it.

We're still going to produce a physical studio guide in short runs, but it will be less wasteful of resources for all. The physical copies will take a basic form and point the public to our app.

If you recognize yourself or your studio there, it's because you signed up last year: we'll input new data/options if you supply them here. We're just getting started. This could build into an events calendar and online marketplace, it could become many things. Need a band for your party? Photographer for your event? You get the idea.

A word about joining: maybe you don't want to list the location of your studio, or maybe you only do the Market. Maybe you don't want your phone or email out there online, and maybe you don't even want public visits. By joining, you are lending your arts community your name and reputation. That is a gift. Every artist, small, big, working, retired, will get a leg-up even if you just let people know you're here. Your name means a lot: it's a "stand and be counted" moment.

Further, this app is about connection. If you need another bass amp ASAP at your gig, but don't have the phone numbers of every bass player on the island in your back pocket...or you need a specific tool for your craft but are new to Hornby and can't be sure who else works in your medium...this directory can help! So please join up and get a friend or two to do so as well.
