13th Annual Postdoc Research Exhibition

We are able to give prizes now! Please see the updated announcement for the 13th Annual Postdoc Research Exhibition. We hope all of you can participate enthusiastically and make this two-day virtual event successful!


The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Penn State Postdoc Society invite early career researchers across Penn State to participate in a virtual research exhibition to be held on
September 24th and 25th, 2020, as a part of the National Postdoc Appreciation Week.

In addition to highlighting the research efforts of Penn State postdocs and assistant research professors, the exhibition will consist of a Keynote Speaker, a workshop on Diversity and Allyship, a panel discussion titled “Career Transitions in the Face of Covid-19”, opportunities to share your research with a broad audience, and time for networking.

DAY 1 September 24, 2020 PROGRAM
11:00 am    Welcome Remarks
11:10 am    Keynote Presentation on “Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education- Role of early career researchers". By Prof.Tonya Peeples, Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, Faculty                        in Chemical Engineering, College of Engineering, Penn State University
12:00 pm    Keynote Workshop: “How to be an ally for diversity and inclusion” presented by Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS),  Penn State Chapter representatives
12:50 pm    Remarks by Dr. Shashank Priya (Associate  VP for Research, Professor in Material Science and Engineering).
1:15 pm       Lightning Talks Competition
2: 30 pm      Closing Remarks

DAY 2, September 25, 2020 PROGRAM

12:30 pm    Penn State Postdoc Society Outstanding Postdoc and Mentor Awards Ceremony

                    Mulvihill, CEO and co-founder, Actuated Medicals; Dr. Maren Woods, Founder and CEO of Beyond the
                    Ph.D., Dr.Douglas Teti, Head, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, Professor of
                    Psychology and Pediatrics, Penn State University and Prof.Kit Elam, Associate Professor in the
                    Department of Applied Health Science at Indiana University
2:05 pm     Closing Remarks
LIGHTNING TALKS
Format: 4-minute short talk (with slides); limited to top 5 submitted abstracts only
Deadline: September 2nd for submitting the abstract; participants notified September 8th; talks will be given on September 24th during the exhibition.
Prizes: The five finalists will receive $100 prize towards professional /career development. One winner will be selected by the judges and audience respectively. Each will receive an additional $300 prize for professional/career development. Minimum five participants needed to have judging and prizes.
