Archaeological Sciences in CRM Survey
This survey is designed to measure the current status of archaeological science within the CRM Industry, its potential future, and the need for trained specialists within the industry.  Archaeological science is defined here as “the application of techniques from the physical (e.g., chemistry, physics, engineering) and natural (e.g., geology, biology) sciences to archaeological or material culture conservation questions and objectives."  This survey is not comprehensive; it represents a starting point from which we seek to better understand industry trends in this area and learn where more information is required.

For each category of archaeological science services on this page and those that follow, please select one of the responses below that is the most applicable to your business.  Some services may fall into multiple categories; for example, stable isotope analysis of faunal hard tissue falls under both zooarchaeology and isotope studies.  Please respond to each category independently (i.e., if a service falls into two categories, respond affirmatively to both).  If your business is a cultural resources unit of a larger organization, answer the questions from the perspective of your department or division.
Remote sensing and/or geophysical prospection: Example methods include but are not limited to ground penetrating radar, magnetic surveying, LIDAR, photogrammetry/structure from motion, hyperspectral imaging, and sonar *
