Eco Gurus

Youth exchange YamoChori Greece

Dates:
28 June - 7 July

Who:
4 people 21-30 and 1 team leader 21+

Eco-Gurus is an exchange involving 6 countries (Greece, Italy, Romania,
Spain, Hungary and Turkey) with 5 participants from each country (1
team leader and 4 participants). The participants are active in the field
of permaculture, upcycling and self-sufficiency, are aged 21-30 come
from rural areas and face economic and geographical difficulties. The
action will be done at Yamochori in Makra Loga, an ecology-only space
that includes 9 days with activities based on non-formal education
(energizer, teambuilding, experiential activities) which have been
organized and implemented by the young people themselves. We want
to demonstrate the existing problems created by consumerism and
propose solutions applicable in everyday life, alternatives to a more
sustainable (environmentally) life.

In short, through this exchange we aim to:
-Rediscover our connection with nature and learn to live in harmony with the environment
-Realize what our needs are and how they can be met with what we have (ways of cultivation and natural
construction)
-Interact with young people from different cultural and social backgrounds
-Work and have a nice and creative time together.
-Spread the ideas of Do it By Yourself (DIY) to the local community through a Citygame.
-Realize what are our daily habits that harm the environment and to try to change them
-Experience the joy of creation and not of reckless consumption, constructing with simple things that we can find around us
-Try and experiment with the method of reuse, processing of things that are considered useless
-Get in touch with the world of permaculture and to learn how we can live in harmony with nature.
-The proposed program will develop important skills for claiming a better future through active participation towards a more sustainable and green future.
-We seek to give young people the opportunity to take initiatives, awakening their creativity.
-For young people, the environmental issue is the answer to the modern age of "packing all" and permaculture can be the lever for the release of communication, self-expression and empathy.
-Finally, our goal is to awaken our peers and all young people in Europe to understand the power of their action. We seek to leave an ecological footprint through environmental stimuli, which will contribute to the cultivation of social responsibility andpersonal fulfillment.
