INTRODUCTION: Wow! Great job on Lesson 2!! Can you believe that we are already on our 3rd Lesson? Which means that when this lesson is done, we are halfway through our Reconciliation Sacrament prep program. So far, we have been preparing for your first celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation by exploring how the commandments and Jesus' teachings ask us to grow as a person. We have talked about loving and unloving actions and thought of loving ways to solve problems. We have also begun exploring one by one the Ten Commandments which are God's rules, or loving guidelines, for living a safe and happy life. By following the Commandments, we grow closer to God and to one another. We have also started to break down exactly what Reconciliation is and understanding that the Sacrament of Reconciliation gives us forgiveness of our sins and fills our souls with God's graces. Through Reconciliation we also share God's great love for us by forgiving others as Jesus has forgiven you! Now, we are ready to learn even more! So, let's get started.
TOGETHER IN JESUS: FIRST RECONCILIATION:  First, let's begin by locating your "Together in Jesus: First Reconciliation" Lesson 3 booklet. Also, be sure to have nearby the sticker sheet that came with your booklets. Once you have both of these, you are ready to go! Today's lesson is "We Can Act Like Jesus." If you recall, in our 1st Lesson, we read about Nick coming to visit his cousin Damian and the problems that posed for Damian and Matt as they already had plans to go to camp when Nick was coming. We read about some of their unloving actions and how they learned to solve their problems in a loving way. In this lesson, you are going to pretend that you are a child, living in Palestine in the time of Jesus. These children are having some trouble deciding how to act when things go wrong. So turn to Page 1 in Lesson 3 and read over the problem situations and then choose the answer you would pick if you were in that situation. You can enter your responses below.

Great job! Now that you have listened to the problems that children in Jesus' time were having, take a moment to stop and think about when you may have had problems like these. How did you respond? Did you do the right thing? Take some time to talk with your Mom or Dad about a time when you faced  a problem like these children and see if your response was a good one or perhaps there might have been a better solution you could have taken. In our next lesson we will see if Jesus has any advice for these children and for you!!
LEARNING ABOUT THE TEN COMMANDMENTS: In today's lesson we are going to continue learning about the Ten Commandments. First, you need to locate your "Learning About the Ten Commandments" booklet and sticker pages. Now that you have those, we are ready to go. We already covered in our last lesson the 1st Commandment; I am the Lord your God; you shall not have strange gods before me, and the 2nd Commandment; You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Today, you will read about the 3rd Commandment. Turn to Page 7 in your booklet and read the 3rd Commandment, "Remember to keep holy the Lord's Day" and then answer the questions below. HINT: Remember, all the answers are in your reading.

Fantastic job! The 3rd Commandment asks us to keep our Sunday celebrations holy. How exactly do you do this? To keep a day holy means to "set it apart," to treat it differently from other days. We are asked to live Sunday in a special way, remembering what unites us to God and opens us up to expressing thanks for his gifts. One way to do this is to "come away" from our regular habits such as work, school or shopping and enter a different kind of time. A time that is spent "going out" from ourselves and going towards others such as, coming together in church as a family in God's presence, listening to his Word, celebrating the Eucharist, praying for the rest of the world. All these things place us in a relationship with God and with our neighbor. Now be sure to take the time look at some of the "I examine my conscience" questions to be sure that you are doing your best to keep Sunday's holy. Then find your 3rd Commandment sticker and place it in the area shown.
Did you read over the "I examine my conscience" questions and place your sticker in your booklet? *
TEN COMMANDMENTS AND SIGN OF THE CROSS PACKET: Included in your "Lesson Activity Bag" you will find a "Ten Commandments Packet." This packet is designed to help you learn more about the Ten Commandments. Included in this packet is a stand you can place in your room or on your desk to remind you of the Commandments. It also has helpful suggestions below each of the Commandments of how you can keep that Commandment. You will also find a packet of sequencing cards to help you memorize the Commandments and a couple of worksheets to challenge you on how well you know your Commandments. Be sure to work on the items in this packet over the next couple of weeks. Remember that the Commandments are the rules God gave us to help us live in a way that is pleasing to him. They also form the basis for our "Examination of Conscience." You should use the questions we are learning in your "Learning About the Ten Commandments" booklet along with your "Examination of Conscience Card" in your "My Reconciliation Packet" to help you remember your sins. It would be a great idea to read through the questions for one or two commandments each night before you go to bed. That way you will notice if you are committing the same sins repeatedly and try harder to avoid those sins going forward. You will also find in the packet a "Sign of the Cross" envelope. These cards will instruct you on why we make the Sign of the Cross and how to make a proper one when you are blessing yourself. Be sure to practice this as you will be making the Sign of the Cross during your First Reconciliation.
Did you locate your "Ten Commandments Packet" and review it with your Mom or Dad? *
Super great job!  I want you to remember that "Reconciliation is a Celebration." It is a celebration of God's power to make all things new for us!! We will continue to learn more about this celebration as we continue our lessons!
