Silver Gate SSC/SGT Parent Nominations
Silver Gate Elementary is seeking Parent Nominations for our
School Site Council/Site Governance Team
Silver Gate Elementary is looking for two parent representatives who are willing to support the shared decision making process to improve student achievement through quality teaching and learning experiences.
In nominating, please keep in mind:
- Elected member will serve a two-year term with an option for one re-election.
- Elected member should represent the needs of our entire student population and strive for improved student achievement for all students.
- Membership may be terminated upon being absent for three meetings.
- To resign from the School Site Council/Site Governance Team, a member must send a letter of resignation to an SSC/SGT Co-chair.
Role of SSC/SGT Members:
- Support the shared decision making process to work toward our goal of improving the achievement of all students through quality teaching and learning experiences.
- Become familiar with the governing documents.
- Seek input and share outcomes with constituency groups.
- Attend all meetings, arrive on time, and stay for the duration of the meeting.
- Share information, expertise, and documents necessary to make informed decisions.
- Respect each other's opinions and adhere to common courtesies.
- If a member sends a designee in his/her absence, the designee may participate in the discussions, but will not be allowed to vote.
- Adhere to the time allotments on the agenda.
- Read the minutes from the prior meeting in advance of the next scheduled meeting.
- Inform constituents of the procedure for proposing topics for agendas.
Parents may nominate themselves or others to serve on the School Site Council/Site Governance Team. Please submit your parent nominations by completing this Google Form by Friday, September 10. On Tuesday, September 14th, we will confirm the acceptance of all parent nominations, ask for a short bio, and circulate the ballot. New members will begin their term at the first SSC/SGT meeting date on September 22, 2021. Meetings will be held via ZOOM the following Wednesdays from 2:00-3:00 pm: 9/22, 10/27, 1/26, 2/23, and 4/27.
