KCSS Gatekeeper Conversation
Description:
As we shift from understanding the School Safety and Resiliency Act (SB 1-2019 and SB 8-2020) to full compliance, the responsibility for keeping a school full of kids and staff safe falls first on those who face the schoolhouse doors from the inside. This is especially difficult, even for seasoned veterans, because of the long period of time we have just endured with an entirely different and unprecedented focus.

This conversation will allow us to revisit the major points of the School Safety and Resiliency Act and its impact on office personnel and others who are charged with performing their jobs as the first line of defense against those who, for many reasons, might threaten safety and security in a school. We’ll talk not only about what the law requires, but why it is required. Following the guidelines and helping each other to do so requires “commitment over compliance”, a key concept in school safety and security for everyone.
