Emotions Matter Borderline Personality Disorder Peer Group Facilitator Application
Thank you for expressing an interest in becoming a BPD peer group facilitator!  Here is some information about the
Emotions Matter BPD Peer Group Facilitator application process:

1. Step 1 - Complete an Emotions Matter Peer Facilitator application using google form through the website.
2. Step 2 - Submit at least two letters of recommendations using the google form on our website.  Recommendations may be personal or professional references.
3. Step 3 - Participate in a brief phone call interview with an Emotions Matter leader to answer any questions you have and learn about your interest in the program.
4.  Step 4 - We will notify you if your application is accepted, and if there is an upcoming training scheduled (timeframe).

Qualities of an Emotions Matter BPD Peer Group Facilitator:

Willingness to support Emotions Matter mission and group purpose.
Willingness to share BPD experiences with others, offer hope, and empower others to work toward recovery.
Willingness to follow Emotions Matter’s group guidelines and manual.
Willingness to work with a co-leader and be open to peer feedback.  
•      Willingness to support group members through sensitive situations, respecting personal boundaries, and responding   to others in an unbiased and non-judgmental way.

Skills/Requirements of an Emotions Matter BPD Peer Group Facilitator:

Ability to show up for meetings on time, be prepared and able to meet program expectations.
Ability to respond to communicate with team/staff in a timely manner.
•      Ability to recognize with self-awareness how your own experience of BPD may affect interactions with group members.  Facilitators should be in control of their own emotions, and know when they are having a bad day or should step aside from primary group facilitation to engage in self-care.
•      Ability to complete facilitator training requirements. Training involves 4 1-hour sessions, which may be flexibly scheduled over a set weekend or weekday period.  Training may also be offered online.
Have basic computer skills (Microsoft office, email, etc.) for online group facilitation, and be willing to learn online group facilitator technology.
