URAH Student Mini-Grant Application
URAH (formerly the Mellon Initiative) will be accepting Spring 2024 URAH Mini-Grant applications through midnight on March 8, 2024. Funds must be spent by the end of the spring semester, but you will have until the end of the 2024 fall semester to complete your project.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY:

URAH Mini-Grants provide funding opportunities for student-directed research projects in the arts and humanities, guided by faculty mentors, in independent study work (for course credit) or as a supplement to coursework. Examples include: capstone, senior or honors thesis, and senior major art show projects. The Mini-Grant funding is intended for research, so travel related to presentations at conferences or professional meetings cannot be funded.

There are two types of Mini-Grants:

1) Traditional Arts/Humanities projects: Students can apply for up to $500 for materials (e.g., software, books, art supplies) that enable them to complete their projects. Please note that grants do not need to be for the entire $500. If you only require an amount less than $500, you should apply for that amount.

2) Innovative Arts/Humanities projects:  These are grants of up to $750 for projects that push the boundaries of typical arts and humanities research. What's innovative, you ask? We have some ideas (e.g. digital humanities projects, civic/social engagement projects, arts/humanities projects that incorporate methods and approaches from outside the arts and humanities, or projects that utilize Trinity's MakerSpace), but innovation, by definition, is something new, so you tell us! The grant covers materials to complete your project. Again, grants do not need to be for the entire $750. If you require a lower amount, you should apply for that amount.

In addition to completing and submitting this form, please have your faculty mentor email a short statement in support of your project to melloninitiative@trinity.edu. Please note:

1) Your application is NOT complete until the faculty statement of support is received.

2) Your application AND the statement of support must be received by the deadline.

You will be notified by email of the status of your grant request within two weeks of the application deadline.

Please contact us at melloninitiative@trinity.edu with any questions.
