Save Bearwood Corks Social Club building for Community Use!
A Space for our Community. A Space for Creativity. A Space for Support. A Space for You. A Space for Bearwood.

Bearwood Corks Social Club, which has belonged to its community members for 100 years, now needs to sell and settle their accounts, putting Bearwood at risk of losing an important historic and community venue. We want to save the building from being sold into private hands and preserve its legacy as a place for the local community!

We (Bearwood Community Hub) have been talking to Mick and John who have kept the Corks going for many years. They are supportive of our desire to ensure that the building remains as an important place for our community to meet, collaborate and support each other. And it just so happens that we urgently need a permanent home in order to help us sustain the social impacts we strive for.

When & whether the Corks can sell to us is dependent on sufficient community & financial support.

So, what do we need?

  • We need community pledges! To show funders that the community are behind the campaign and to demonstrate to how we intend to raise co-funding.
  • We're looking for Community Members - towards the end of May we will be launching a Community Share Offer for people to become members of Bearwood Community Hub and to invest in shares to help us raise the money we need to purchase the building (If we are not successful in reaching our target you will get your money back!)
  • We need you to promote the campaign! Shout, dance, sing, walk, talk, beat box, knit, sew, paint, whatever it is you think might help to get the word out and to get this campaign under the noses of the right people!
