Thank you for deciding to enroll in Our Whole Lives at Community Unitarian Universalist Church. Honest, accurate information about sexuality saves lives. We believe that in supporting parents and caregivers to be the best primary sexuality educators to their children that they can be, we are working to bend the moral arc of the universe towards justice.
Parents and caregivers are the most important sexuality educators their children will have. The information and attitudes that adults share with their children—intentionally or by default—carry extraordinary power. Many adults struggle to wield this power effectively and confidently. Often, their own experiences, perspectives, and worries get in the way. These sessions invite parents and caregivers to find support and courage with one another.
Please know that this class is not secular, and it is not opinion-neutral. While participants may hold a wide array of diverse religious beliefs, it is expected that everyone in the class will honor the OWL values of self worth, responsibility, sexual heath, and justice and inclusivity, and respect the Unitarian Universalist values of Justice, Equity, Transformation, Pluralism, Interdependence and Generosity. Unitarian Universalism affirms the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We affirm the diversity of gender identity and experience. We value diversity of sexuality and gender and see it as a spiritual gift. We create inclusive religious communities and work for LGBTQ justice and equity as a core part of who we are.
This class is 6 sessions long. It runs from 2-3:30pm on 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 4/7, 4/14, and 4/21. We will meet at CUUC in the Cecilia Space.
