As the initial part of my research project for Museum of Half Truths, I'm gathering information on the experiences of migrants regarding any potential changes they may have made to their name to adapt to the new language and culture.
I'm interested in the different approaches people take and how language can impact our sense of identity.

I tried teaching people how to pronounce by name but it took too long/people couldn't do it so I gave up

I have always felt connected to this new country and was happy to adapt/change my name

I wanted to blend in as much as possible and not draw unnecessary attention to my background

People didn’t understand and struggled to pronounce it so I wanted to make it easier for them

I wish people made more of an effort to respect my original name and its pronunciation

Spelling my name and repeating it took too much time/people still didn’t understand so I gave up

I like the new name I use and I don't really think about it much
