The Ambassadors of Mumbai (AoM) training programme is an initiative by Team KHAKI. The programme trains residents passionate about Mumbai to be Ambassadors of the city to visitors. Ambassadors of Mumbai are NOT tourist guides but representatives of the city who are knowledgeable, articulate and friendly; they are interested in the city's history, heritage and culture; and their passion for the city is infectious. Above all, Ambassadors of Mumbai leave visitors with an experience of the city that is unforgettable.
The Ambassadors of Mumbai training programme was launched in 2018 and has already had six successful editions. Graduates of the programme conduct heritage walks and tours for travellers as part of Khaki Tours. The more ambitious among them are also designing and curating new experiences! They also get adequately compensated for their time and effort. Our hosting fees remain the best in the industry.
We are looking for a new set of equally passionate people who will become the Ambassadors of Mumbai in 2024! Our training programme has both theory and practicals covering subjects like Mumbai's architecture, food, geography, history and religions, as well as storytelling and mobile photography. Some sessions will be online, while others will be offline. We are expanding Khaki’s coverage beyond Mumbai into India and abroad, and able AoMs will potentially get opportunities to host our international tours too, on successful completion of the program.

Khaki Tours has been acknowledged to be one of the best (if not the best) ways to see Mumbai by Lonely Planet, Condé Nast Traveler and TripAdvisor. We offer unique heritage experiences of the city in open jeeps and buses, e-Victorias, air-conditioned vehicles, yachts and on foot, hosted by friendly and knowledgeable residents who undergo an intensive training programme to become Ambassadors of Mumbai. Our portfolio at present includes private tours, group tours, food tours, specially-curated tours for MTDC and other institutions, and public walks for Mumbai residents in more than 50 city areas. Research is on for many more city precincts. We have also undertaken outbound tours to Turkey and Ladakh, and many more destinations are in the offing.
Khaki Heritage Foundation is a not-for-profit sister concern that has the objectives of heritage awareness, archiving and conservation. KHF conducts free online talks on history and heritage every week, as well as exhibitions, workshops and more at Khaki Lab, a multi-cultural space co-managed by KT and KHF. The Lab also hosts a library that will be available to the general public for reference.
