Katie's Art Project (KAP) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to connect children facing life-threatening illnesses with emerging and established artists through collaborative programs to create a lasting legacy through art. Our vision is to create a tolerance, awareness, and a sense of consistency at an otherwise scary time for children facing life-threatening illnesses, where we as people, through the power of art, have the ability to hold time, make it stand still for a moment as we paint, sing, and sculpt it into an eternity. KAP creates several programs and activities to epitomize this vision and mission.
The campus chapters of KAP use student leadership, volunteerism, creativity, and knowledge to spread our three goals. Our vision is to use "Use the breadth and creativity of art to make a difference in the lives of patients".
Our three goals include:
1. Creating outreach events, “art projects”, which extend Katie’s Art Project programs or student created ideas to local medical facilities where students volunteer their talents and give back to their patient communities.
2. Hosting community building – social fundraising – events to benefit Katie’s Art Project per semester
3. Bringing awareness to art and medicine through science and volunteerism
