This contract serves as a commitment from the parents and students of the Prosper HS Band to the schedule, preparation standards, financial commitments, and the eligibility, behavior, and attendance standards for the class. Band is a co-curricular activity, meaning that band rehearsals and performances that occur both within and outside of normal school hours are considered part of the curriculum, and are therefore part of the grades for the class. This may mean that students have to rearrange work schedules or other activities in order to meet their curricular responsibilities for their assigned band class. This is no different from what has been required in the past and is standard procedure for band programs across the United States. This form is simply a way to communicate the expectation of the band program.

Schedule
I will keep track of the schedule of activities for the calendar year, and I will make the commitment to attend all rehearsals and performances. I will also make an effort to attend Summer Training Sessions when I am in town.
2.
Preparation
I will make the commitment to come to all rehearsals fully prepared, with my instrument in good working order. I will be dressed in appropriate clothing and shoes. I will make sure that I eat at least three meals a day and get plenty of rest.
3.
Financial Commitment
I understand that there is a financial commitment to the Band. I will make every effort to fulfill this commitment in a timely fashion through payments or arrangements with the PBBC. Eligibility
Students must meet academic eligibility requirements in order to travel and perform with the Band. understand that should I become ineligible at any time, I am at risk for being removed from the show for the rest of the season. I would only be able to participate as a "challenger'' should I regain my eligibility. I am not guaranteed a spot after gaining back eligibility due to losing my spot to someone else. 5.
Performance Standards
Should I fall behind on music or marching performance standards, I am at risk of being removed from the performance cast. Meaning - not practicing music assignments, or having difficulty in executing any visual sequence due to lack of preparation may result in removal from a particular performance segment.
6.
Behavior
If, at any time, I compromise any rules or regulations of the PHS Student Handbook, or extra-curricular rules and regulations specified by PISD, (this includes social media standards}, I will be disciplined accordingly and will be at risk of being removed from the program. I will represent the Prosper High School Band by setting an example and displaying the discipline for which we have become known.
7.
Attendance
I understand that attendance at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory, unless prior arrangements have been approved. A minimum of 2-weeks before performance and 24 hours before rehearsal (if possible). The Directors may make individual exceptions based on specific circumstances. I further understand that if I miss a rehearsal, I must make up the time and the material that was covered in the rehearsal in order to be eligible to participate in the next performance. I have read, understand, and agree to the following attendance policy:
Excused Absence: illness (same standard as school attendance - "if you are at school, you should be at practice"), or death in the family
Unexcused Absence: work, homework, no ride, sleeping, etc.
