The Commuter Working Group represents a 10-month collaboration between SIMAP (i.e., University of New Hampshire), Second Nature, and higher-ed sustainability professionals representing over 10 institutions. The purpose of the group is to improve data collection and reporting related to commuting impacts in higher education, identify opportunities for standardization across reporting platforms (e.g., SIMAP, Second Nature, AASHE STARS), and to ultimately improve the comparability and accuracy of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories.  

The group has produced recommendations and tools that are now ready to be shared for feedback from the broad sustainability-in-higher-education community of practitioners.

The purpose of this Google-sheet is to collect feedback from about ways in which these recommendations and tools are helpful and relevant for a wide array of institutions, and/or how they can be further improved.

The commuting working group has developed three sets of materials:
1) Proposed sets of standardized commuting data points for collection, and guidance about how to define and collect those data points
2) Commuting survey templates
3) Proposed guidance around how to account for the impact of electric vehicles
