Are you a dancer, dance teacher, dance student, or choreographer who lives or works in Brookline, MA? How would you like to see a dance move you created painted on the sidewalk for all to see and experience?
Local public artist
Kit Collins is working with the
Town of Brookline and the
Brookline Commission for the Arts to create two
dance diagram sidewalk murals in Brookline’s vibrant commercial area. We are seeking two choreographers – individuals or groups – to provide the dance inspiration for this brand-new public art. Could that be you?
You don't need to be a professional or have an impressive dance CV to apply. If you consider yourself a dancer, we'd love to hear from you.
Chosen choreographers or choreography groups will each be paid a one-time stipend of $500 for their participation. Choreographers will be asked to meet in person or on Zoom 2–4 times with Collins to share their dance move and give feedback on dance diagram drafts. Choreographers may also be invited to participate in an end-of-project celebration event at the mural sites in the fall.
Previously, Collins has created a series of eight dance diagram sidewalk murals for Roslindale Village Main Streets, and much more public art (including the vertical kind!) throughout the greater Boston area. If you need more information before applying, please send an email to kit.b.collins@gmail.com.
This form will close on March 29, 2024. Please apply soon!
