The resulting outcomes of the residencies will be showcased in Jedna Dva Tři Gallery of Petrohradská kolektiv complex in group show exhibition. The main theme of the exhibition program for 2023 is "Survival course", therefore we ask all the applicants to take this into account when submitting their projects.

Who are we looking for?

AiR Petrohradská kolektiv is open for anyone from Czechia and abroad.

The residency program is intended for active artists, creators and curators, who desire independence and want space and technical support for working on their projects. That’s what the Petrohradská kolektiv AiR program offers in the heart of a multi-genre cultural center in Prague. The goal of the program is creating an open platform for international artistic dialogue, interconnection of different cultures, and support for emerging artists working with diverse media formats.
  • international artists / art collectives working in any medium

Residence is an opportunity for independent professional development, artistic exchange, networking, and experiments. Residencies are intended for creators with an interest in creative exchange and participation and involvement within Prague's contemporary art scene.

What do we offer?

  • Accommodation and a studio in the Petrohradská kolektiv complex
  • Covering the travel and material costs (up to 200€)
  • Technical support and consultation
  • Presentation of the outcome of the residency as a part of collective exhibition at Jedna Dva Tři Gallery (or an alternative)
  • Free entrance to all events organized by Petrohradská kolektiv

Resident´s work on their projects and actively participate in the final exhibition program of the Petrohradská kolektiv at Jedna Dva Tři Gallery. Since the year 2021 are the results of artist in residence program presented in the form of group exhibitions and their accompanying programs. The exhibitional program of 2024 consists of 5 collective exhibitions presenting the results of the artist in residence program. The artists aplying to this opencall are selected based on concept aiming for collective exhibitions consisting of artists from abroad and artists from the local scene. One of the main factors is to create a dialogue about presentation of artist´s artworks in a form of site specific installations and about the ways of presentation in direct communication with the audience. Since the outcomes of our program are mainly presenting newly created artworks, it is considered as standard that it´s  form can change during the residency itself as long it is discussed with the other artist and team beforehand; the dialogue, collectivity and collaboration are very important aspects to focus on in your projects documentation. The results of the group exhibitions with accompanying programmes are experimental in it´s nature.

We know that a convenient working environment is fundamental, therefore we provide a shared studio with a workshop equipped with basic power and work tools with an area of 60 square meters just 30m from the apartment within the art centre compound with direct access to the courtyard. Additionally it is possible to book assisted recording session in a sound recording studio, photo/ video studio,  screen printing workshop within the building based on a request. Each project requires different technical equipment, therefore the technology needed is consulted with each resident individually.

Residency duration

In the selection procedure there will be up to 10 projects accepted for a residency of duration of 4-8 weeks.

Individual residencies can last from 4 to 8 weeks between May and November. Residents are asked to suggest a preferred length of stay and if accepted, this can be arranged according to studio availability and curatorial concept + schedule of exhibitions.
