2020 Middle School Band Sign Up Form for Effingham County Schools
This form will sign your student up for band at Ebenezer Middle School, Effingham County Middle School, or South Effingham Middle School.  Indicate in the space provided which school your child will be attending and the band directors at that school will receive your information.  Band meets during the school day as one of your child's connections classes.  There are no after school rehearsals for middle school band students; therefore, band does not interfere with any other sport or club at the middle schools.  

The 6th grade year is the only time that students can join band in our county.  We strongly suggest that students go ahead and give band a try- we are sure they will enjoy this new and exciting experience!

We suggest renting an instrument for the first year for several reasons:
1) the rentals come with a repair policy that if something happens to the instrument- the repair shop will fix it for you
2) the rentals are quality instruments that will play with a good tone.  
3) the rental policies are on a month to month basis- if your child moves or is selected to switch to a specialty instrument you can return it.

Ebenezer and ECMS will have a "Join the Band" night at the school during the summer once the Shelter in Place restrictions are lifted.  Instrument testing (placements) will occur during this time and students will be placed on the instrument that best suits them. In the end, we want to make sure that each student is placed on the instrument that they will be most successful at!  Sixth graders start on one of these 5 instruments listed: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone.  
*Auditions for Percussion will happen during class in September. Students interested in this opportunity must start on one of the 5 instruments listed above.

* Parents will receive an email with the "Join the Band" date and time.
