The barista position at Pascal’s Coffeehouse is more than a mere job. Baristas cultivate a space where coffee, community, conversation, and creativity thrive together. To be a Pascal’s barista is to join a holistic learning community, one that is committed to:
-exploring what it means to serve its community with good drink, good food, and hospitality
-exploring what it would mean to think well
-exploring what it would mean to be the thoughtful presence of Christ
-exploring the intersection of Christian faith and academic discourse, with a view toward human flourishing and the common good
To this end, applicants must be willing to fulfill the following expectations:
-operate the coffeehouse program of the Christian Study Center of Gainesville, known as Pascal’s Coffeehouse
-cultivate a space of conversation and unity
-learn the necessary skills of a craft coffee professional
-participate in morning staff meetings and regular coffee cuppings to further coffee education
-participate in semester-long shared reading that aims to discuss shared questions of human experience through a Christian theological framework
Please note that this application is for barista positions beginning in the Fall of 2021 but there will be training towards the end of Summer B during the week of August 15th-22nd. The official position begins on the first day of classes, Monday, August 23rd.
