Mindful time spent in nature is incredibly healing. A plethora of studies show that being in nature reduces children's stress, depression and obesity, while stimulating children’s imagination and creativity. As technology and time spent indoors consumes most Americans' lives, it is crucial to intentionally counteract the many emotional and physical issues caused by our disconnected lifestyles.
Forest Therapy for Youth classes will include invitations to observe the natural world at a much slower pace than we normally operate at. Students will be instructed in simple breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises involving the natural world around them. They will be invited to share and discuss their experiences with their fellow students.
Additional information (include any special considerations, limitations, requests): Students must be physically capable of hiking and emotionally capable of quiet mindfulness practices.
