Sierra Day of Code Volunteer form
In 2019, we brought the Day of Code to Sierra in addition to the Hour of Code that Mrs. Yacano, the Digital Teacher-Librarian, does with each class every year. Last year, we couldn't do this because we went to remote learning for the month of December and we also could not have volunteers in our buildings. This year we are bringing it back!
Computers are everywhere, but fewer schools teach computer science than 10 years ago. The good news is, we’re on our way to changing this. If you've heard about the Hour of Code before, you might know it made history. More than 100 million students have tried an Hour of Code. Sadly though, 90% of schools do not teach computer science, programming, or coding. With the Hour of Code, computer science has been on the home pages of Google, MSN, Yahoo!, and Disney. Over 100 partners joined together to support this movement. We would love for you to get involved with our DAY of Code event, Tuesday, December 21st to help celebrate Computer Science Education Week. NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED, but we would love to have some experts as well. We will do a brief training prior to your shift(s), so truly no experience is needed.
