Become a Community Science Collaborator!
Thanks for your interest in partnering with the Science Museum of Virginia on our new community science project, RVAir.

By getting local experts (you!) to help us get locally-specific air quality data throughout Richmond, we can help create home-grown solutions to Richmond’s climate resiliency challenge and work toward the goal of environmental justice.

Here are your opportunities:

1. We need collaborators to join us on walks through the Museum's nearby neighborhoods to collect data using hand-held AirBeam sensors to test for particulate matter (PM).

2. We need collaborators willing to host a small, outdoor PurpleAir PM monitor at their home, business, community organization, school, etc. to track long-term air quality data that will be publicly accessible online.

Want to be a collaborator? Please fill out the form below!

*Participation is completely voluntary and offers no major benefits or risks to you for completing this project. You must be at least 18 years old to participate as an individual. Families and groups are welcome to participate as long as a consenting adult fills out the form and is present for the activity!

Can't come in person? As a local expert, send us your ideas! Let us know if you see any potential sources of air pollution, and help us imagine and implement ways to create a more livable, sustainable and equitable neighborhood where you live. Have another community science question or project in mind? We’d love to hear about that too!
