Bringing Your Foster Cat Home -6min
It is such an exciting moment when you get your foster cat out of the shelter and into the comfort of your home; however, this can also be a stressful time for your foster cat. In this short class, you will learn how to set up your home in a way that creates a safe space for your foster cat and how to help your foster cat acclimate to their new environment.
Low Stress Transport -6min
In this short video, Sheryl Blancato, Executive Director of Second Chance Animal Shelter, shares their protocol for minimizing stress on cats during transport by limiting the changes in the feline's environment. This protocol can be useful for staff or volunteers transporting cats between shelters, as well as for fosters bringing their cats to and from adoption events, veterinary appointments or other location.
Cat Body Language 101- 5min
Cats are constantly communicating their feelings and intent with humans and other animals by using their primary communication method—body language. The problem is, cat communication signals can be so subtle, it’s easy to miss or to misinterpret what a cat is trying to say. As a result, when a cat’s polite warnings they aren’t feeling safe go unheeded, their gentle requests may escalate into louder shouts to get others to listen (think a yowl, hiss or swat of the paw). Learn ways to better understand your cat in the following cat body language guide for safer, happier interactions and strengthened feline friendships.
