Details for the complete week of riding are HERE >>
https://velocitycyclingclub.ca/event/2020-covid-crusher-episode-2/During the Alberta Health Services (AHS) public health restrictions of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Alberta Bicycle Association (ABA) has given us specific protocols to follow while conducting all club group rides.
Failure to follow these protocols negates the terms of our group insurance (providing you additional health coverage beyond basic AHS coverage).
First, and as needed for all club rides we conduct, EVERY rider must be a member of Velocity Cycling Club to participate.
Second, ALL members must sign an new ABA COVID Waiver, to release any and all liabilities surrounding COVID-19 exposure that might happen. The ABA ride protocols minimize this risk, but our insurance will not cover any specific COVID-19 issues. If you want to participate, you must sign the ABA COVID Waiver (details below).
In general, this is what we expect for group rides:
• Preregister your name, email and phone number to facilitate any contact tracing that might be become necessary in the 2-week period post-ride
• Just prior to riding, you will be asked a list of COVID Screening questions to ensure you are clear to ride with us that day (you'll also be asked those same questions on this form)
• You must be completely self-supporting during the ride, with all food, hydration, and necessary repair tools. Nothing should be shared among riders in the group
• You must have your own personal bottle of hand sanitizer on your person, should any emergency inter-person contact be necessary
• The group can have no more than 15 riders, including a Ride Leader (Coach Kevin, or another club volunteer). If more than 10 members register for a ride, additional groups will be formed and staggered apart with 30 minute start times to discourage large groups at start and finish staging
• Riders should arrive at most 15 minutes before the scheduled start time
• Ride Leaders must have Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a face mask, nitrile gloves and hand sanitizer and be prepared to handle any roadside basic medical emergencies. Ride Leaders will ensure the group is following all the ABA group ride protocols.
• The ride will have a single paceline form leaving about one wheel diameter between each rider, with riders dropping back/passing at least 2m to the side of the paceline to follow the 2m physical distancing rule during the ride
• You must use good respiratory etiquette (i.e., sneezing or coughing into the crook of your elbow, no spitting, no purposeful clearing of nasal passages, uncovered coughing or sneezing within the group). If any of these practices are necessary you must safely drop 20 m to the rear of the group
