Before we start, a few logistical details: This census is a one-time affair for the moment, and thus will be out of date in 6 months or so. If it's a wild success, I'll consider repeating it (or someone else may). Furthermore, an independent AIS researcher is defined here as someone who is currently working an average of >= 20 hours a week on AI Safety Research and is not employed by anyone to do so (if you are employed to work on field building, organization, or other capacities related to AIS, that's fine). If you don't fit these criteria, please consider using other channels to connect to your fellow researchers.
