WEST OF ENGLAND YOUTH ORCHESTRA (WEYO)

The West of England Youth Orchestra is a top-quality young people’s orchestra which offers the fantastic opportunity for young musicians to rehearse together during holidays and perform in a professional concert hall. Now in its 52nd year the Orchestra has toured Europe, US, and Asia, and toured to the South of France in 2018.

Courses are held three times a year at Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon, which offers world-class concert facilities. Transport is available from various pick-up points in Salisbury and Swindon.

Easter course dates: Tues 14 Apr – Sat 18 Apr 2020.
Rehearsals from 10am.

Repertoire: An evening of gaming music with a digital element

Summer course dates: Sun 23 Aug – Sat 29 Aug 2020.
Rehearsals from 10am.

WILTSHIRE YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA (WYJO)

The Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra was formed in 2002, providing the opportunity for the region’s most talented young jazz musicians to rehearse and perform together and work at the highest level with like-minded musicians.

WYJO meets on weekends twice during the year in Wiltshire Music Centre’s professional concert hall, taking part in intensive rehearsals and workshops in technique, repertoire, ensemble work, improvisation and performance skills.

The Orchestra also engages professional musicians as tutorial staff including music director Mike Daniels. In recent years it has also worked with a number of leading jazz musicians including Ryan Quigley, Malcolm Edmonstone, Claire Martin and Mark Armstrong, Artistic Director of NYJO.
