The Columbia EA × Roosevelt Institute AI Policy Hackathon is happening this Saturday, April 23rd and we are elated that you want to be part of it.
During the hackathon, teams of 1–4 students will submit a brief policy memo which is intended to reduce misuse or misalignment risks from advanced AI systems. We're excited about the potential for this hackathon to introduce students to the field of AI governance and engage them in reducing long-term risks.
Here are what you should expect as a judge, mentor, or speaker:
For judges: Judges will evaluate policy proposals between 4 and 6pm EDT (UTC-4:00) and will decide on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place hackathon winners.
For mentors: Mentors are asked to be available to provide feedback as teams are developing their policy ideas, between 10:30am and 12:30pm EDT. We expect this may about 2 hours or less.
For speakers: Please be available to present a 30-minute talk/workshop on a topic of your choice in AI governance. Please be mindful that not all students come from CS backgrounds, so a topic that integrates tech with policy that is a beginner-friendly is a good idea. We'd also prefer having you come on-campus to speak and interact with the students after the talk/workshop.
If you'd like, you can sign up to be both a speaker and a judge.
If you would instead like to sign up as a participant, please see the participant registration form:
