Sunday, December 5th from 9:00am-3:15pm
University of Kansas
Robinson Center, 1301 Sunnyside Avenue, Lawrence, KS 66045
Innovative Choreography is thrilled to be partnering with the University of Kansas to bring a collegiate dance combine to the Kansas City area for the fourth year. Colleges and universities from the midwest will be in attendance to recruit and represent their programs. For a complete and updated list of colleges and universities involved, please visit
https://www.innovativechoreography.com/innovative-college-combine .
Dancers will begin the day with an opportunity to have professional headshots and full body photos taken by the amazing Alexis Close of B.Close Photography. All photos will be made available to purchase! Innovative Choreography faculty members will teach technique, a pom sideline, a hip hop combination, and a jazz combination. Participants will have an opportunity to demonstrate each routine for the collegiate coaches. Throughout the day, dancers will interact with coaches through scheduled mingle sessions. Additionally, all participants will be provided a list of coaches and contact information. Likewise, all coaches will be provided a list of participants and contact information.
The Robinson Center at the University of Kansas is located at 1301 Sunnyside Avenue, Lawrence, Kansas 66045. Dancers are encouraged to wear formed-fitting dance attire (tanks, sports bras, etc) and come game day ready! We will have each grade level wear a different color top to distinguish their age:
Freshmen - Grey
Sophomores - Grey
Juniors - Black
Seniors & Current College Students - any color top (please avoid grey and black)
Please pack a lunch, snacks, and water!
On Wednesday, November 24th, 1.5 weeks prior to the Innovative College Combine, we will share a video of the jazz and hip hop choreography with all participants. Dancers are encouraged to learn both routines and come ready to perform. Technique and pom sideline choreography will be taught live, in-person at the Combine on December 5th.
All colleges/universities will be provided 1 table and 2 chairs.
All high school dancers will receive feedback from a collegiate dancer and/or an Innovative staff member! We hope this addition will provide even more education, support, and encouragement to every dancer in attendance. We need your help in order to make this happen. On the registration form, we will ask if we can “borrow” your dancers at one point during the day to help provide feedback to the high school attendees.
If your college dancers are not helping us with providing feedback to the high school dancers, we invite them to take any class they want! We do need waivers from them on file before they can participate (see links below for both the Innovative Choreography waiver and the University of Kansas waiver). Feel free to take choreography back to your schools to use at games/performances! We would LOVE for you to tag us in social media posts when/if you perform any of our routines.
To encourage dancers to visit all college recruiting booths, we would like to do a drawing at the end of the day. All high school dancers will be given paper with their names on it. As they visit the college tables, they will drop off a piece of paper in the drawing on each table. We ask that you bring something representing your college/university/team to be given away in the drawing. Ideas include: school or team shirt, swag, free/discounted admission to a dance clinic, etc. Drawings will occur during the Combine Wrap Up at the end of the day.
