By Discovery’s Summer Adventures Camp is inspired by artists both past and present; the natural world; and our own experiences, interests and dreams. Through painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture, children will develop their skills and imagination to produce innovative works of art. By Discovery is facilitated by Jocelyne Adkins, Program Director and Stacey Grieff, Co-Lead Educator.
Jocelyne earned her Masters Degree in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has enjoyed teaching for 20 years. She founded By Discovery (formerly Beye Discovery) in 2011 and is inspired daily by her students’ imagination, creativity and enthusiasm! Stacey has a background in the Arts and Early Childhood Education. Her portrait photography career spanned 15 years and revealed her desire to work with youth in more impactful ways. She earned her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from The Erikson Institute, where she gained a deep knowledge of child development and research based instructional practices.
SESSIONS & FEES:
Week 1: June 13-17 (WAITLIST FOR MORNING AND AFTERNOON SESSION)
Week 2: July 25-29 (WAITLIST FOR AFTERNOON SESSION)
Week 3: Aug 1-5 (WAITLIST FOR AFTERNOON SESSION)
Morning Session only, 9am - 12pm ($125 per week)
Afternoon Session only, 1pm - 4pm ($125 per week)
Morning + Afternoon Sessions, 9am - 4pm ($290 per week, please pack a lunch)
PLEASE NOTE: a NUT FREE bagged lunch and snack from home are required for students who attend both the morning and afternoon sessions. Also, a snack and water bottle should be packed for those who attend only morning or afternoon sessions. Due to Covid-19, we will eat outside, distanced 6 feet or more.
LOCATION:
Our summer camp will be held at Lincoln Elementary, 1111 S. Grove Ave.
COVID SAFETY:
Covid-safety measures are a top priority and we will closely follow all CDC protocols in place for summer. Due to the uncertainty of Covid-19, use of D97 buildings is conditional. Should a Covid spike require a building closure, you will receive a refund for canceled classes, less a $10 processing fee.
INVOICING:
Invoices are generated via "Wave" online accounting and emailed within 48 hours of your registration. Payment information will be provided on your invoice and is also outlined below:
PAYMENT:
Payment is due within 1 week of your registration or as arranged with the Program Director, should there be a hardship. If timely payment is not made, the registration will be voided. Payment options include:

SCHOLARSHIPS:
A limited number of partial scholarships for both half-day (morning or afternoon sessions) and full-day enrollments are available. A child qualifies for the scholarship if she/he receives free or reduced lunches during the school year.
SIBLING DISCOUNT:
A 10% discount is awarded to families with 2 or more children enrolled in the summer program.
REGISTRATION:
Registration is first-come, first served. Enrollment is limited to 20 students or fewer, based on CDC guidelines and Covid safety mitigations.
CANCELLATION POLICY
A cancellation must be made 30 days prior to your child's first participation day. A $25 cancellation fee will apply.
