Vocab Cheat Sheet (for when John gets too excited and uses unfamiliar words...)
Navigable = easy to navigate or travel on ••• Benign = not harmful or dangerous;
[0:30-1:00] According to John Green, why are most people more familiar with Ancient Egyptian Civilization that any other? *

[1:00-2:00] What what are some of the approaches, or "historical lenses", that John mentions using in studying history? Why do you think it is important to approach history through a variety of these "lenses"? *

[1:45-3:00] What geographic advantages did Egypt gain from living along the Nile River? You must give at least two examples, but you are encouraged to record more. *
Use the words "silt" and "irrigation" in your answers somewhere...

FACT CHECK! John accidentally suggested that the Nile River flows North to South. HOWEVER, the Nile actually flows from the tall mountains in the south, down to the lower elevation in the North, where the river opens into a wide and fertile flat-open delta, where the river pours into the Mediterranean Sea. (They actually tried to correct this with a little note, but that was wrong too! Those resources, like gold and timber, were indeed flowing DOWNstream, just as John said. The problem was the arrow and the animation that show them going the wrong way. In reality, they should have been flowing from the south to the north!) So... which way does the Nile River flow? *

FACT CHECK! John accidentally suggested that Moses and the Israelites lived in Egypt BEFORE the period, which is ridiculous. That's like, way off. They added a note to the video, but in case you can't see it, here it is: *
"We got it wrong here. Historians' best guess is that the Jews were in Egypt in the 13th century BCE, and probably left during the reign of Ramese II. More than 1000 years after the Great Pyramid was built. Sorry about that."

During which kingdom did the Southern Egyptians from the city of Thebes (see map) take control of Egypt? (John accidentally called them Nubians, which are a different group of people from even further south... Man he's making a lot of mistakes, huh?) *
HINT: They did end up conquering Nubia, the land south of Egypt during the same Kingdom...

Disclaimer: I am not officially endorsing this album. Too much cursing (and not the Ancient Egyptian kind).
