MVHS Senior Year Unscheduled Period Agreement
(Spring 2023)
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

By submitting this form, students in good standing may request an unscheduled 1st or 4th period in their schedule.  These expectations align with our mission, vision, and strong intention on student preparation for future success and life long achievement.

To receive approval for this privilege, the student must:
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance (less than 10 combined tardies / truancies / unexcused absences)
  • Maintain a satisfactory discipline record as determined by referrals, suspensions, & campus behavior
  • Be a Senior on track to graduate with their class
  • Maintain grades of C or better in all courses
  • Be on track for CSU a-g Freshman admission requirements
  • Be on track to complete a CTE or PLTW Pathway
  • Be continuously enrolled in Math, or have completed a 4th level Math course with a C or better
  • Have completed or on track to complete a third Science course
  • Have completed/passed the Health requirement
  • Be on track to complete & submit FAFSA / Dream Act / Waiver
  • Not be enrolled in a TA/Peer Tutor course within the same Term
  • Receive permission from a parent/guardian as indicated by their signature on the agreement

Unscheduled students must sign agreement and adhere to these rules associated with an unscheduled period: 
  • Students who have an unscheduled period must be enrolled in a minimum of three classes per Term
  • Students who are unscheduled 1st period may arrive to school no more than ten minutes before the beginning of 2nd period.
  • Students who are unscheduled 4th period are expected to leave campus within ten minutes of the start of the period and not return to campus earlier than ten minutes before the final bell. Students returning are expected to follow all rules and park in the designated parent pick-up lot.
  • In general, unscheduled students are not to be on campus during the unscheduled period unless in a designated area with approval from administration.  Offices, gym/locker rooms and other areas on campus are off limits.
  • Show their current student ID & unscheduled sticker when exiting campus during the school day
  • Students who wish to be at school during the unscheduled period to work on college applications and/or scholarship opportunities must check in and check out with our Career Center Specialist and must remain in the Career Center until the end of the class period.  These opportunities are only available on designated days as determined by the Counseling & Career Center staff and administration. 
  • Students must not engage in any behavior during the unscheduled period - either on or off campus - that would be in conflict with school rules and expectations.

                   The unscheduled period may be revoked at any time by school administration.
