DataWhys 2024 Summer Internship Application
**The program has entered waitlist status. This means that we can only accept new interns if existing interns decline the internship. You can still submit an application, but there is no guarantee you will hear from us by the original deadline below**

About the program

No background in data science is needed - interns will participate in the data science training program we are developing and work with faculty and graduate student mentors to develop their data science and professional skills, including how to research a topic, how to read a scientific paper, how to find a dataset, and how to present results.

Dates

The program is 5 weeks, from June 3, 2024 to July 3, 2024, where the first 3 weeks are on the University of Memphis campus and participation is remote afterwards. Interns should plan to be available for the entirety of the summer program and are expected to participate from 10 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at least 18 years of age by the start date. The program targets students from HBCUs, community colleges, and recent high school graduates. The program aims to expand undergraduate access to research, and as such past research experience is NOT a prerequisite. Furthermore, no background in data science or related fields is needed.
