Dog Days of Summer Trivia
Sirius, the Dog Star, is the brightest star in the constellation named Greater Dog. According to the Farmer's Almanac, in July, Sirius seems extra bright, and in some parts of the world it rises and sets at the same time as the sun. In ancient Rome, people believed that the Dog Star Sirius made the sun's rays to Earth even hotter, so they called this hot period diēs caniculārēs, or “dog days”  Here's some fun trivia about dogs and summer.
