Texas Brigades Summer Camps - 2020 CADET Application

We are looking for 13-17 year old students (incoming 8th graders to incoming high school seniors) who are highly motivated, active in a variety of extracurricular activities, and interested in learning more about the outdoors, wildlife, and natural resource conservation.

2020 Texas Brigades Summer Camps:
• Rolling Plains Bobwhite Brigade (June 5-9 in Rising Star, TX)
• South Texas Buckskin Brigade (June 14-18 in Sinton, TX)
• South Texas Bobwhite Brigade (June 20-24 in McCoy, TX)
• Bass Brigade (July 14-18 in Santa Anna, TX)
• Ranch Brigade (July 20-24 in Santa Anna, TX)
• North Texas Buckskin Brigade (July 26-30 in Santa Anna, TX)
• Coastal Brigade (July 28 - August 1 in Galveston, TX)

2020 Summer Camps, specific locations, and dates are mentioned throughout the website and application; please consider both your parent's/guardian's AND your summer schedule when making your camp preference selections. We encourage cadet applicant and parents to complete this application TOGETHER to ensure accuracy of information. Essay questions must be the original work of the cadet applicant (not a parent).

About the Texas Brigades Cadet Selection Process
Admission is COMPETITIVE. All applications submitted before the March 15th deadline are pooled by camp preferences and graded by each camp's committee. Applications are "blind", meaning no identifying information is provided to the committees prior to selection. The quality of an applicant's essay questions is important! Depending on each camp's capacity, the top 20 - 30 applicants are selected and will be notified of their acceptance on or before April 15th, 2020.
Required Paperwork & Payment
DEPOSIT ($100)
If you are selected to attend camp, you must secure your spot at camp with a $100 non-refundable deposit, which will be applied toward your $500 camp tuition. Deposits for ALL 2020 Camps are due by May 1st, 2020. If your deposit is not received by the deadline, your spot will be offered to another cadet and your application will be added to a waitlist.

PAPERWORK & TUITION BALANCE
Required paperwork will be distributed upon acceptance to a camp. This paperwork includes releases, medical information (including immunization records), and a code of conduct. Paperwork and tuition are due IN FULL by the following deadlines:

May 15th - ALL June Camps (Rolling Plains Bobwhite Brigade, South Texas Buckskin Brigade, South Texas Bobwhite Brigade)
June 15th - ALL July Camps (Bass Brigade, Ranch Brigade, Coastal Brigade, North Texas Buckskin Brigade)

Application Instructions & Essay Questions
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! Responses WILL NOT be saved if you leave this application page before submitting. Be prepared to type or transfer your answers from another document to answer the essay questions (~250 word responses). The 2020 Cadet Application Questions are:

1. Who do you know that is a leader? What qualities do you believe make them an effective leader, and how has that inspired you to become one yourself?
2. Describe your reasons for wanting to be selected as a Texas Brigades cadet.

If you do not receive a confirmation email from Google Forms within a few minutes of submitting, your application was NOT RECEIVED. Please be sure to check your spam folder for this email.
