CHS DRIVER ED REGISTRATION
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • 15-17 YEARS OF AGE WITH VALID DRIVING PERMIT AT TIME OF REGISTRATION.
  • At least 10 hours of driving experience.
  • 100% attendance in classroom and drive lab is required. 
  • Absences require additional class time in a future course. Certificate will be delayed.

CLASS REGISTRATION: 
  • WHEN: MONDAY, APRIL 15th AT 9AM

  • EARLY SUBMISSIONS WON'T BE ACCEPTED.
  • Classes are limited to 30 students & fill up very fast. Recent classes filled in 15 mins.

AFTER SUBMITTING YOUR REQUEST:

  • Both lists (phone & online) will be compiled and ordered by timestamp. 
  • Applicants will be emailed their placement status within 72 hours.
ACCEPTED APPLICANTS:  You will receive a call within 5 business days. Please have the following information: 
  • Student permit number & expiration date
  • Student cell number (used for drive lab updates)
  • Payment (cash/check payments due within 48 hours)
  • Drive Lab Availability -- May need to select alternate choice based on availability
  • Parent contact information 
WAITLIST APPLICANTS: Applicants that don't secure a spot in class will be automatically added to the class waitlist. You will be notified if space becomes available.

SUMMER CLASS: 6/10/2024-8/1/2024 

CLASS CONSISTS OF 3 CLASSROOM SESSIONS A WEEK AND 1 DRIVE LAB. 
  • Course end date varies. Course ends on date of driving assessment
  • NO CLASSES OR DRIVE LABS 6/28-7/8 DUE TO HOLIDAY BREAK

ORIENTATION: Attendance with adult is mandatory
Date: Monday, 6/10/2024, 6pm-7pm
Location: Room 1 at Canby High School (in building closest to 2nd Street & McDonalds)

CLASSROOM SESSIONS: (students attend all dates)
Dates: 6/10-7/24
Duration: 6 weeks (excluding holiday break)
Location: CHS, Room A102

WEEK #1: 
2 days (Monday & Tuesday)
  • Monday, 6/10, 7pm-9pm
  • Tuesday, 6/11, 4pm-6pm
WEEKS #2-6:
3 days/week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)  
  • WEEK 2: Tue-Wed-Thurs, 6/18 - 6/20, 8-10am
  • WEEK 3: Tue-Wed-Thurs,  6/25 - 6/27, 8-10am
  • (NO CLASSES OR DRIVES 6/28-7/8)
  • WEEK 4: Tue-Wed-Thurs,  7/9  -  7/11, 8-10am
  • WEEK 5: Tue-Wed-Thurs,  7/16 - 7/18, 8-10am
  • WEEK 6: Tue-Wed,  7/23 - 7/24, 8-10am
DRIVING SESSIONS: (2 students per time slot)
Duration: 6 weeks
Location: CHS front lot, near flag pole & visitor parking

1 DAY PER WEEK (pick one day and one time)
  • DAY OPTIONS: Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday
  • TIME OPTIONS: (10am-12:15pm) (1:15-3:15pm) or (3:30pm-5:30pm)
DRIVE DATES:
  • TUESDAY DRIVERS:        6/18, 6/25, 7/9, 7/16, 7/23. Exam: 7/30
  • WEDNESDAY DRIVERS:  6/19, 6/26, 7/10, 7/17, 7/24. Exam: 7/31
  • THURSDAY DRIVERS:     6/20, 6/27, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25. Exam: 8/1
DRIVE EXAM SCHEDULE CONFLICT???
We typically have instructors that are available for some driving assessments after the last day of class.  The alternate exam dates would likely be 7/26, 7/27 or 7/28. 

CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION:
  • Students that successfully complete the course will receive their mailed certificate by August 24th. 
  • Students have 180 days to complete course requirements (from 6/10/2024).  This includes exam retakes, rectifying absences and submitting required course work.
  • Certificates act as a driving assessment waiver for the DMV. When obtaining your license, present the card and you will bypass the drive exam.
Does the student live within the Canby School District?
