The First Shot Mentored Turkey Hunt is intended to introduce first time adult hunters (18 and older) that do not otherwise have the skill set or knowledge to hunt turkey on their own and would like to learn and hunt with skilled veteran hunters. Space is limited and participants will be selected via random lottery. You will be notified via phone and email if you have been selected for the hunt by March 19.

No experience is necessary to participate in this program including Hunter Education or a current hunting license. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources offers an Apprentice Hunting License, which can be obtained and used for one hunting season. All applications will be reviewed for acceptance into the program. If selected, you will be notified and will be required to obtain a valid Maryland Hunting License or Apprentice License within 3 days of acceptance into the program. If selected, you will be required to attend the pre-hunt orientation on Saturday, April 18 and the hunt on Sunday, April 19.

Please answer all questions as honestly and as detailed as possible. Submitting an application does not automatically enroll you in the program. Your application will be kept confidential and only be used for administrative purposes.
