Please complete this form if you plan to audition for the 2022/2023 Competition Company. Note that the MDM Competition Season runs from August 2022 - May 2023 (approximately). During the Competition season, dancers will have required technique classes. During the Summer, competition dancers are expected to continue training in ballet and jazz, at a minimum, either through summer enrollment or punch card purchases. Most all choreography for the competition season will be set in August 2022 and there is a required Company Technique Intensive the first week of August.

Regular attendance at rehearsals is required of all Company members. We will adhere to the stated attendance policy in order to ensure fairness to all group members, consistency in training, and adequate preparation for performances. We do NOT forbid dancers to participate in other extracurricular activities and understand that it is important to be well-rounded, but we do expect that dance takes priority when there are conflicts with other optional extracurricular activities. Keeping this in mind, please let us know if you have other activities that might create conflicts.

In general, our Company will perform at 2-3 local competitions and one out of town convention (for Advanced level dances only). IF it were an option to attend a second out of town convention to compete group dances, would this be an opportunity that you would be interested in? (Note: this convention would likely be a Fall convention and/or a Jan/Feb. convention) *

Are you interested in participating in MDM's 5th Annual Short & Suite Nutcracker which will take place the first week/weekend in December? Casting is at the discretion of our staff and casting is not guaranteed to all Company dancers. Please Note: dancers who wish to participate will not be allowed to participate in other local Nutcracker productions due to scheduling conflicts. *

If you are selected for the Competition Company, there will be a required Company Technique Intensive the first week of August. If you have plans that already conflict with this week, you will still be responsible for the associated financial obligation. We will also be bringing in guest choreographers this week and in order to be cast in a piece set by a guest choreographer, you MUST be present. We will NOT utilize understudies to learn choreography set by guest choreographers. Please indicate that you have read this and understand this prior to auditioning. *

Audition fee of $30 must be paid in full in order to audition.

MDM dancers must have all accounts up to date in order to audition.

Dancers must audition in person unless they are ill, quarantined, or at a required family and/or school event.

Dancers are welcome to wear their favorite leotard and any shorts, leggings, or dance skirts. Tights are NOT required. Hair should be secured in a bun away from the face.

Dancers should arrive 15 minutes early in order to check in at the front desk and get an audition number. We will not be doing a warm up during the audition so dancers are free to come earlier and use the open studios to warm themselves up prior to their audition. We will have the other studios open and available for earlier arrival for dancers to warm themselves up prior to the audition.

The audition will consist primarily of a jazz combination, but may include some ballet as well. Bring both jazz and ballet shoes to the audition.

Casting is at the full discretion of the MDM faculty. No one, other than MDM Company instructors, is permitted in the audition room.

Dancers who wish to audition should plan to keep the month of August as free as possible for setting choreography.

Communication regarding placement on the MDM Competition Team will be made within 2 weeks of the audition. Casting information will be released in mid-July.
