Join the Machine Learning Marathon (MLM23)!
The ML+X Community is excited to announce its first ever machine learning marathon event! This event is your opportunity to learn and apply ML tools with others in the community. 

Participants: Participants will form small teams of 3-5 members to compete in an ML challenge/project of their choice. Teams will have 7-8 weeks to complete the challenge using compute resources provided by Kaggle, and team members will be expected to contribute at least 1 hour/week. Some challenges award a prize to the top performing teams competing globally. Locally, whichever ML+X team receives the highest leaderboard ranking (across all challenges) may receive a $250 award ($50 gift card / team member)!

Advisors: We are seeking advisors to help guide teams throughout the marathon! Advisors will be expected to check in with their assigned team on a fortnightly basis to discuss project challenges and recommend possible solutions/experiments. If you are interested in helping others home in their ML expertise while making new connections in the ML+X Community, please fill out this form!

Full Event Schedule
  1. 10/16, 9am: The application window to join as a participant closed on 10/16 at 9am CT. However, advisors may still apply to join the marathon event until 10/25.
  2. 10/17: Project teams announced
  3. 10/18, 6-8pm: Meet your team members and begin project co-working
  4. 10/25: The application window to join as an advisor closes.
  5. 11/1, 6-8pm: In-person co-working event
  6. 11/8, 9-11am: Optionally attend ML+Coffee as an additional opportunity to co-work with team members and seek advice
  7. 11/16, 6-8pm: In-person co-working event
  8. 12/X: Project submissions due (exact date depends on which project you pick)
  9. 12/13: Winning team announced!
  10. February: Teams will have an opportunity to present their methods to the community. Date/time to be determined based on team availability.

Getting Started in ML: The below challenges are good options for those who are relatively new to the world of ML. There is no official end-date to these since they are ongoing. However, for the purposes of this ML Marathon event, you will be expected to submit a solution by 12/8.
