Rural Action Sustainable Agriculture - Mentorship Intake Form
This form is intended to capture information about the farm mentors in Rural Action's network who are interested and able to share their experience and wisdom through peer-to-peer educational opportunities. You may have worked with us before, you may have not. Either way, if you're interested in being on our mentorship list to be called upon for various workshops, webinars, or series - fill out this form!
We believe strongly in the peer-to-peer educational model and have put together dozens of workshops and series using this framework since 2004. Each winter we put on the Whole Farm Planning & Mentoring series, a 10-week workshop series aimed towards supporting beginning farmers in starting their farm or food businesses. In addition, we host farm visits and workshops about specific production models, enterprises, or in-depth topics like mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, or marketing. As programs arise, we will reach out to you to gauge your interest in presenting or mentoring. Mentors do NOT have to be from a specific area in Ohio but our programming focuses on farmers in the Appalachian counties of Ohio and West Virginia. By filling out this form, you are not committing to any particular program.
Mentorship responsibilities may include one-on-one phone calls, meetings with a mentee, presenting on a topic to a large group online or in-person, offering feedback on the plans and ideas of mentees, and sharing insight about operating a small farm or food business. Mentors commit to a set amount of time that is negotiated beforehand. Mentors will be compensated at a rate that will depend on each project budget.
