2024 Press Membership Badge Registration Form
Thank you for your interest in Anime Central 2024!

The requirements for registration have been revamped for 2024 and are posted below.  Please note that we now offer expanded options for members of the media to join us in coverage of the event as we celebrate Anime Central!

Approval for a Press Membership Badge may be for a complimentary ("Comp") badge or a paid badge. Members of the Press who qualify for Press status but not a complimentary Membership badge may purchase one at the Professional rate (currently, $45/weekend).

If your outlet has multiple members, please verify that each member of the outlet is registered individually.  You will receive a confirmation email for each registration so you know it has been received. We suggest emailing your credentials to eric.leitzen@acen.org at this point as it will greatly speed up processing.

If approved, you will receive an e-mail confirming your registration for either a complimentary or paid Press Membership Badge, and important information regarding the convention. Please note that each approved outlet member will still be required to pick up their own badge and provide valid government-issued ID at point of pickup.

**Please note: prior Press Membership Badge approval does not guarantee future approvals.  Please also be aware that a request for Press Membership Badges does not guarantee approval, nor approval for the number of badges requested, or a complimentary rate.  Complimentary Press Membership Badges are a privilege granted by the Midwest Animation Promotion Society (MAPS) and we reserve the right to deny Anime Central Press Membership Badge applications at any point.

We hope you can join us for Anime Central! If you have any questions, please send an inquiry to eric.leitzen@acen.org.

Qualifications
Anime Central welcomes all members of the media who are involved in the anime, manga, and/or entertainment industry.  Members of the Press may be employed with a major media company, independent contractors, or professionals.

Press Membership Badges are intended for those working in an editorial or talent capacity for an established outlet.  This includes writers, reporters, hosts/talent, photographers/videographers, reviewers, etc. who will be producing content of and featuring Anime Central.

Currently recognized outlet types include Broadcast Media, Print Media, Web-Based Media (Audio, Video, or Written), Freelance Press who submit items to established outlets, and Student Media fitting the above categories.

Outlets must regularly produce original content and have been posting regularly for at least 1 year.  Please note that each outlet type has additional requirements.

***
Non-editorial staff, friends, and family of an outlet would not qualify for Press Membership.
We also do not approve photographers/videographers who do not fit one of the above outlet types or anyone creating a documentary.  Remember that you do not have to have a Press badge to take photos or videos at the convention!

Please note that any “comedy” or "shock" videos asking our attendees provocative, sensitive, or sexual questions are in violation of Anime Central’s Anti-Harassment Policy and our Press Department has a zero-tolerance policy for this behavior. We will not approve any outlet or member known to create such content, and any Press member or outlet found to engage in harassment or otherwise inappropriate behavior will receive a permanent ban and will not be approved in future years.

Accepted Outlet Types
Broadcast Media: Any “over the air” TV or radio broadcast such as local access TV, cable/network news shows, AM/FM or Sirius/XM radio, etc.

Print Media: Any physical print media, including magazines, newspapers, etc.

Student Media: Any media type created by and for student consumption, sponsored or published by a school of any level.

Web-Based Media (Written/Audio/Video): Any digital media including news sites, blogs/fan sites, podcasts, YouTube channels, etc.

Freelance Press: Any writer/reporter, photographer or videographer whose work will be submitted to a separate outlet they do not work for for publication/release.  This includes news wires.
*Multi-Platform Content Creators* - NOTE
Any content creator who posts regularly to multiple social accounts (such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok) instead of having a single "primary" outlet is welcome to apply using a separate form, which can be found at https://forms.gle/aD4324zaWhkfn4pM8

You do not have to fill out both forms - please follow the link above and SKIP this form!  Thanks!
