Business of Music Essentials Workshop Series – Sign Up Form
This series focuses on the essential aspects of the music business.  From touring to producing; networking to promotion - these 3 workshops will give you the opportunity to participate in an intimate workshop with top industry professionals who - like you - started with picking up their first instrument and have worked hard to become nationally and internationally recognized artists and producers!

Workshop #1: Treasa Lavessaur - Networking 101. September 14th, 7pm
Treasa is a JUNO-nominated singer-songwriter and passionate artist-educator.  She is a regular columnist on CBC’s The Next Chapter, a graduate of Ryerson Theatre School’s acting program, and a long time collaborator with Fixt Point Theatre.  Currently Treasa coordinates the Developing Artist Program at Folk Music Ontario, and serves as the Outreach Manager for Folk Alliance International.  She works as a program coordinator and in class music instructor for An Instrument For Every Child, and recently developed and facilitated a week-long bilingual virtual camp as part of Theatre Direct’s Balancing Act Project.
This hour long workshop will focus on the essential aspects of networking in the music business.  From how to get considered for festivals to how to navigate and network at conferences and events.  Ultimately - how to get your music noticed by promoters and artistic directors for a variety of music events!

Workshop #2: Danno O’Shea - Booking Agents and Touring! September 21st; 7pm
Danno is a full time music agent and owner of Vegas Funeral Records. He is the founder of the international touring 12 piece brass funk crew, My Son the Hurricane. Danno makes his career as an agent for large sized bands and solo acts.
Since the inception of Vegas Funeral Records in 2016, he has created a small roster of artists and has quickly solidified over 250k in bookings per year, all while educating promoters on new artists and helping create a strong revenue stream for touring bands. Danno has always been interested in furthering his education and received management and agent training at Canada’s Music Incubator in Toronto, Ontario.
This workshop focuses helping other artists and managers. This intimate workshop discusses royalties, rights, agents vs management and when to use them, publishing, licensing and many other facets of the music industry.
