Teen Book and Movie Review Submissions
This program is for teens in grades 8-12. You can earn community service hours by writing book and movie reviews that will be available on our website via https://innisfil.bibliocommons.com.

Your reviews must be ...
-For titles in the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library’s physical or digital collections. Be sure to search the online catalog before beginning your review via https://innisfil.bibliocommons.com/
-Between 150 and 400 words.
-Spell checked, use appropriate language, and reflect your personal opinion. We want to hear from you. We do not want to read something someone else (including AI) wrote.

Books: You will earn 1 hour of community service per 100 pages (i.e. 2 hours for a 250-page book).
Audiobooks: You will earn 1 hour of community service per 3 hours (i.e. a 6 hours for a 19 hour audiobook. Note: this only applies if a page count for the audiobook is unavailable. If there is a print copy of the book, the page count will be used.)
Movies: You will earn 1 hour of community service per movie review.

You can submit a maximum of 2 reviews per month. Your submissions will be reviewed by staff before they are made public and community service hours will only be given to acceptable submissions.

Note: Email addresses are required for sending "Response Receipts" (an automatic email with your responses) will only be used to contact participants regarding their Book Review.

Thank you for reviews! We look forward to your recommendations. If you have questions, email Laura at ljeffery@innisfilidealab.ca.

Reviews are a culmination of your answers to the following 4 questions. Taken together, the answers should make a review that is between 150 and 400 words, uses appropriate language, and reflects your personal opinion (plagiarism or flagrant use of AI will automatically disqualify your entry).
Why did I enjoy/not enjoy this book/movie? (What did you connect with? Did it deliver on your expectations? What was memorable about it?) You can use examples or spoilers to explain yourself.
*
This is *NOT* meant to be a space for plot summary.
What would you change/improve about the book/movie to make it more appealing? (Think about character perspectives and choices, setting, how it ended, pacing, themes, etc.)  *

Who would you recommend this book to? (Think about age or grade level, areas of interest, genre, etc.)

*

What are 2-3 similar titles, series, or authors? OR What other books/movies would you recommend to others who have read/watched this book/movie?

*
Note: These do not need to be in the Library's collection. If you didn't like what you read, you can always suggest something totally different. If you are submitting a book review, you can recommend movies/TV shows and vice versa. If you aren't sure what to recommend though, be honest!

Is there anything else you want to share in your review?
