The Bedford Hills Elementary School PTO is unable to hold our 2020 Fall Carnival due to the COVID-19 pandemic and we are unsure about what 2021 holds for in-person events. Our single major fundraiser, the Bedford Hills Carnival, historically has raised $10,000-$15,000 for the PTO. As you know, the fundraising that the PTO conducts each year raises funds for needs such as teacher and grade level allowances to purchase supplies for their classrooms, baby chicks for Kindergarten learning, field trip and violin trip transportation fees, flexible seating for classrooms and equipment to outfit our new gymnasium facility.  We are so grateful that parents can come alongside the teachers and staff to enrich the experience of our Bedford Hills students.

We have done a full assessment of online fundraising opportunities and have decided to pursue a school-wide Read-A-Thon for two weeks, March 1-12, 2021. We will celebrate Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss’s birthday by encouraging our students to count and log their reading minutes.  They can send emails to family and friends to invite them to sponsor their participation in our Read-A-Thon. The PTO and a teacher committee are planning spirit days and prizes for participation and minutes read across grade levels. We are seeking sponsorships to support bookmarks, prizes and of course our ongoing school needs.
